2nd Kiribati National Action Plan Validation Workshop

The Ministry of Environment, Land and Agricultural Development (MELAD), in collaboration with the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will be holding the 2nd Workshop to endorse Kiribati’s National Action Plan for Agribusiness and Value Chain Development this Saturday 21 December 2019.

Workshop 2 builds on the outcome(s) of the first workshop held earlier this year in May. Multiple stakeholders revised the Kiribati National Action Plan and made changes to the draft that was developed in May 2018 in Fiji. A core steering group had been established with members from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS), Ministry of Information, Communication, Transport and Tourism Development (MICTTD), and MELAD.

The revised thematic areas have been confirmed by participants of the national workshop, which are in line with national priorities:

  1. Nutrition/Agriculture
  2. Fisheries
  3. ICT/Trade/Tourism/Finance

This work is part of national validation processes initiated under the regional Project “Promoting Nutritious Food Systems in the Pacific Islands” implemented in Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu.
