Innov4AgPacific & Partners attend the Second Pacific Week of Agriculture in Samoa
Following the inaugural Pacific Week of Agriculture (PWA) in Vanuatu in October 2017, the second PWA will take place next week from Monday 30 September to Friday 04 Ocotober 2019 in Apia Samoa. The event is hosted by the Samoan Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries in partnership with the Pacific Community (SPC) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
The Innov4AgPacific Project and partners will be hosting several PWA with several Side-Events (see below). The aim is to strengthen multi – stakeholder alliances and mobilise multi- donor support and innovative financial instruments for implementing joint actions that foster nutrition-sensitive local food crop and fisheries value chain development and build resilience of communities for better incomes and nutrition outcomes in Pacific Island States.
The theme of the second PWA is “Enhanced Partnerships for Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry Systems in the Pacific” with the overall objective to strengthen and deepen the partnerships for sustainable development in the Pacific Region. This PWA theme resonates with the Innov4AgPacific Project which has a strong focus on cross-sectoral and multi-stakeholder engagement for creating the enabling environment for upgrading Pacific food crops and fisheries value chains for improved nutrition and incomes.
Two key regional agriculture forums will also take place within the PWA at the Samoa Conference Center, Apia: the Heads of Agriculture and Forestry Services (HOAFS) and the Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry (MOAF) meetings.
