Description

The CTA/IFAD/PIPSO Promoting Nutritious Food Systems in the Pacific Islands – Fiji National Roundtable Workshop took place on 28 and 29 June 2017 at the Tanoa Plaza Hotel in Suva, Fiji. Sixty-three participants representing government ministries, private sector, civil society, academia and regional/development organisations attended the two-day workshop. It was the first workshop in a series of national consultations in the seven target countries.

The report captured the divergent viewpoints, knowledge and discussions around the multifaceted and multidimensional aspects of the agri-nutrition challenges in Fiji, which led to three key recommendations that were considered in the Fiji National Development Plan, launched during COP23 in Bonn, Germany:

  1. Creating an Enabling Environment for Agriculture Nutrition Nexus
  2. Evidence Based Policy and Strategic Planning
  3. Leveraging on Partnerships & Shared Responsibilities for Increased Food and Nutrition Security
